This last few months I've been concentrating soley on creating a "Judge Dredd / Fifth Element" type cityscape for the referees at my local games club. I've even integrated sections of the construction and UV mapping into the tutorials I've been writing for in his endeavours to learn 3D modelling using an old copy of 3DS Max. I'm about satisfied with the last two models to swing off my "construction line" but can't decide which model and in what format they'd be best released in.
They say inspiration can happen anytime, anyplace and anyhow, well the inspiration for this entire project came from observing woodlice milling around between slivers of rotten treetrunk in the woods not far from here. I was just reminded of a high density traffic system cramming the lanes between old buildings, the kind of thing you come across in any European city that has a section still standing that dates back to its roots, narrow twisting lanes, seemingly haphazard placement of structures. Well I've tried to emulate this using a hexagon as the base unit for the delimeter between city blocks, some of the more densely packed (shorter structures) buildings harking back to the citys founding days, other structures representing modern day archology type structures taking up as much as half a hex ground area and extending on the Z axis perhaps 2000m in the larger sectors.
Anyway the two models I've earmarked for release are currently collada files but I can put them out in whatever format you people think may be best recieved. Structure module A - The Maze, is a medieval type road system based on a rough 4km x 4.2km ground slab.
Structure module B - by far my favourite, is based on a hexagonal grid road system and a skyrail network interlinking the buildings.
I could use some input on this, the referees at the club have basically pounced on both using the B module as a more modern megacity and the A module as the decaying ancient starports ground section and startown.
Well that about wraps this entry up.
The shameless plugs are going to get a complete revamp this month with all new plugs.

Sally Ride RIP
For those who don't know Sally Ride, astronaut and America's first woman in space passed on recently. She battled for a long time with pancreatic cancer but it finally got the upper hand. A very influential person to me personally because we both shared the same problem, yes I have pancreatic cancer too - its the reason I've not posted much recently.
God speed Sally Ride you were an inspiration to fellow sufferers of the disease not to mention young girls in America. She was an inspiration to young girls to strive further and aim at the stars.
Null Program
Just a quick word to give you guys the lowdown on why the dearth of uploads from yours truly this last couple of months. My health has hit rock bottom and if things weren't bad enough I tripped over one of my own IV lines and broke my shoulder on the kitchen floor. I bought a wacom (beginner model, nothing fancy but it doubles as a touch pad allowing me to use my comp much in the same manner I would my android tablet.) in order to try to improve my somewhat diabollical texturing skills, the fucked shoulder has that on hold till it heals same as the traditional art I'd been doing thats had to be held over too.

Diets? Who needs them?
This is week four for me that I've not been able to stomach solid food, its a pretty bad situation to be in mainly due to a lack of energy. Its no where near the longest time I've had to go without either but this time does seem somewhat different. I had a bout of flu during the early stage this time and my body didn't or rather wasn't getting the extra energy it needed to repair itself so the flue lasted a full three weeks instead of the usual few days. Woke up this morning though with something different - the harsh abdominal pains that had put me off eating had gone completely (I suffer from chronic pancretitis) and I actually managed a bo

And has no intention of doing. It seems that many people have been in some way dissatified in the past with the choices of usernames for their accounts here that now a facility exists for premium members to change theirs have jumped on the proverbial band wagon. It seems just like a fad to me. I for one am not bothered about changing my monniker here being quite happy the way things stand as they are. I just opened my inbox to find however that eight of the people that are on my current watchlist have changed theirs. Pity theres no checkbox on the change dialogue to not inform watchers etc. Watches it seems are totally unaffected by this appe

There are towns in Canada that are still like that. Tight, old streets made of cobblestone... not conducive to driving a General Motors Conversion Van on! Terrifying!
